Former Mullingar Town player wants to guide Kettering into the Football League

The FA Cup is probably the most famous domestic cup competition in world soccer. The First Round of the FA Cup takes place this weekend and probably not too many people will pay attention to the First Round games as the bigger clubs don’t join in until the Third Round. However this Friday evening non-league Kettering Town FC will travel to play League 2 side Northampton Town FC in the First Round and there is certainly a Mullingar interest in this game, which will be shown live on BBC TV.

Nadim Akhtar, is known locally here in Mullingar as ‘Besty’, and Besty is a former player with Mullingar Town FC and is now the owner of non-league Kettering Town FC. Besty was part of the famous Mullingar Town FC Dream Team backed by the late Jim Moore (RIP), who brought over several players from London to play with Mullingar back in the early 2000s.
