Organ Donor Awareness Week, which runs from Saturday next, 2 April, to 9 April, is not just a key period for highlighting the importance of organ donation, it’s an emotional time for all those who have received transplants.
Eddie Flood from Killucan, who is almost five years over his kidney transplant, still feels emotional when he thinks of the sacrifice that was made for him. Chairman of the Westmeath Branch of the Irish Kidney Association, Eddie is looking forward to a busy week, but remains acutely aware of the gift he has received which ensures he remains healthy and allows him lead a normal life.
