A man is recovering from serious injuries following a brutal attack in his apartment in Mullingar.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening last, 3 January, when two men visited his apartment in the Derravarra complex on the Delvin Road, Mullingar.
It is believed the victim is a web-designer in his late 30s, who had carried out web design work for the two men who are believed to be from Dublin.
When the two men from Dublin arrived, thought to be a father and son, a dispute developed.
It is thought the two men from Dublin threatened their victim and held him against his will, before then brutally assaulting the man, who is originally believed to be from Pakistan.
It is understood the dispute arose from web design work that the Pakistani man was completing for the two Dublin men. The father and son then attacked the man as he was getting into his car and then dragged him back into his apartment causing him severe injuries after he was punched in the head, eyes, nose and face.
That wasn’t the end of the incident however as the two men then ransacked their victim’s apartment and issued more threats, an incident which lasted a further 30 minutes.
The father and son from Dublin seemed intent on finding a computer and ransacked the apartment searching for the computer before they found it.
This was a terrifying ordeal for the Pakistani who later received a total of four stitches to his head.
The matter was then reported to the Gardaí who immediately began carrying out their investigations.
Gardaí in Mullingar carried out door-to-door enquiries after the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward and help them with their enquiries, in particular anyone who may have seen a black Mercedes car in the Derravarra area close to St Loman’s or the Delvin Road area of Mullingar on Sunday evening.
Gardaí in Mullingar are also liaising with Gardaí in Dublin in relation to the incident.
