Senior Hurling Final abandoned

In extraordinary circumstances last Sunday’s Westmeath senior hurling final was abandoned after just 13 minutes and 47 seconds of play, due to the Cusack Park pitch being unplayable.

‘Player safety’ was the main reason the match was abandoned with far too many dangerous situations arising due to the poor surface of the pitch following a couple of hours of heavy rain, and with light fading rapidly.
