The effects and consequences of the Celtic Tiger’s sudden demise a decade ago, hit home in earnest in north Westmeath this week, as the five doctors and other staff who work at Coole Medical Centre and provide a valuable service for upwards of 7,500 patients annually in the Centre, discovered that the property from which they operate had been put up for sale without their knowledge!
Westmeath Topic learned this week from confidential sources, that while negotiations in regard to the Coole property – which was put into receivership in 2012 – has been under negotiation since then, those involved were unwilling to agree to what local doctor, Dr. Patrick Cullen (who was behind the Medical Centre when it began operations in 2006) has sought, in order to ensure the Centre’s future.
