Be spellbound by the magic of Delamere

Have you ever wondered why exactly it is that we say we ‘spell’ words? Well, if you take a moment to think about it, it becomes pretty obvious. It’s because words are magical, just like spells are!
And you really don’t need to think far beyond your favourite song to realise how true this is. You hear that tune kick in on the radio or tv, and straight away you can feel a change come over you. It’s an irresistible potent combination of a psychological and physiological reaction. Both mind and body are changed in an instant.
But a song has music, too, so as good an example as it is of the power of words, it’s not the best one. If you want to witness how words alone can engage with and hold a room full of people absolutely spellbound, while creating an energy that, if it could somehow be harnessed, would surely be as powerful as electricity, then all you need to do is this: go see Neil Delamere perform ‘Live’!
The Offaly man has positioned himself as one of Ireland’s most popular and successful comedians of the last decade. And yet, referring to Neil simply as a comedian alone doesn’t even come close to doing justice to the man’s immense talent.
The truth is, that over the last ten years and more, what Neil has actually done is become one of Ireland’s top entertainers. And in fact, thanks to his hilarious, razor-like and on-point contributions to The Blame Game, Neil ranks alongside Dara Ó Briain and Jason Byrne as among the most instantly recognisable Irish entertainers.
Several successful tv series (There’s Something About Patrick, and, The Only Viking In The Village, to name but two), with another due to hit our screens shortly, and a hugely popular Sunday morning radio show on Today FM, offer further evidence of Neil’s versatility and range.
But through it all, his first love remains his true love, and Neil’s current tour, ‘CTRL+ALT+DELAMERE’, continues to see venues ring loud with laughter from the moment Neil first appears on stage to the moment he disappears with hollers for more and thunderous applause echoing in his wake.
You’ll laugh so hard you’ll cry, then Neil will laugh at you for that! And all you’ll do is laugh even harder and longer. Because you don’t just ‘go’ to a Neil Delamere show, you become part of it. And be spellbound by the sheer magic of one man’s words.
Neil Delamere brings his massive comedy show to the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Friday, 11 March. Doors open at 7.30pm and show begins at 8.30pm. Tickets are available from hotel and Ticketstop.ie.
