Good2Talk Counselling and Psychotherapy Support Services Mullingar are set to host a series of free events this week to coincide with World Mental Health Week.
Taking place from Friday, 10 October to Sunday, 12 October, the weekend of events will begin on the Friday morning with a coffee morning in Buckley’s SuperValu from 10am to 2pm.
On Saturday, 11 October, Good2Talk will be situated on the Market Square, Mullingar, from 10am to 5pm, where they will be available to offer support and information in relation to mental health, to members of the public. They will be joined by a number of supporting groups, local American football team, local talented musicians and singers who will help to create a carnival type atmosphere, while also promoting positive mental health.
The main event on Sunday, 12 October, will be a free mental health awareness event, which will take place at the Annebrook House Hotel, Mullingar, from 2pm to 5pm. Good2Talk volunteers will be joined by a number of groups and exhibitors to present ways to actively get involved in positive mental health and well-being projects over the winter months. Guest speaker on the day is Mr Fionnbar Walsh, author of the sell-out book, ‘Donal’s Mountain’, and founder of the Donal Walsh LIVElife Foundation. Fionnbar will talk about how his son inspired a nation with the simple message of ‘live life’.
Following on from the events in the Annebrook House Hotel, there will be a ‘Live Life – Let it go’ floating lights ceremony in the Mullingar Town Park. This will be a moment for members of the public to light a floating flower candle and place it on the pond in a symbolic gesture of letting go of past difficult experiences and present-day concerns.
Speaking about the upcoming events this week, Pat Gavin, Director at Good2Talk, said: “It is very much a day for everyone, where families can come together and acknowledge losses and concerns. By lighting the floating candle and placing it on the pond, we offer you an opportunity to ‘live life and let it go’. All members of the public are invited to join us in this beautiful, symbolic opportunity. This is a way for us to bring about an awareness of our service and to encourage people in our community to proactively work towards maintaining positive mental health and well-being. We are delighted with the public’s support so far and look forward to welcoming you along to our unique event this Sunday.”
Please join Good2Talk in raising some much needed awareness, by showing your support this World Mental Health Week. And remember, it’s always Good2Talk.
