With the arrival of world-renowned celebrity couple, Kimye (Kim Kardashian/Kanye West) to Ireland last week, brought with it the unusual visit of the duo to the IMC cinema in Tullamore last Thursday evening, 29 May.
For Mullingar angler and Westmeath Topic photographer, Michael Flanagan, it was a quick drive to Offaly’s county town, on assignment to capture the world exclusive photo of the world-famous couple…and so he did.
“To be honest, I’d never heard of the either of the two before last Thursday, so I was basically just keeping my eyes peeled for a celebrity-looking couple emerging from the cinema,” said Michael, who was on assignment for the Sunday World newspaper.
“They both emerged from the cinema, with a black Mercedes parked metres from the front door, so I only had seconds to get the right shot.”
Since Michael’s photograph was taken, it has been picked up internationally, with both the Daily Mail in the UK and The Daily News in New York publishing it.
Asked if he got to speak to the famous couple quipped: “Not at all, but I did give their driver my business card. You never know, they might fancy a trip out on Lough Owel some day!”
