Two youths (17) arrested over suspected assault

Gardaí in Mullingar are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a male in his 30s with serious injuries on Grove Street, Mullingar in the early hours of last Saturday, 14 December.

As part of the investigation, two youths were arrested on Wednesday 18 December, in the Mullingar area. The two, both males aged 17, are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Midlands.

The injured man remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any persons who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the areas around Grove Street and Mullingar Town centre between 12:30 am and 1:30 am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
