Westmeath County Council paid out more than €900,000 in compensation for public liability claims in 2023, with the average claimant earning €18,421.
The Council’s 2023 payout of €939,483 is below the average rate of claims paid out by councils, even when Dublin City Council’s €19,490,572 bill is taken into account.
