4,138 people in Westmeath signed onto the live register in July according to figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Friday, 2 August.
2,061 of those who signed on were male while the remaining 2,077 were female. In Mullingar, 2,146 people were on the live register which included 255 under 25 while 1,891 were 25 and older. 1,114 of those who signed on in Mullingar were male while 1,032 were female.
In Athlone, 1,676 people were on the live register which included 194 under 25 while 1,482 were 25 and over. 792 of those who signed on in Athlone while 884 were female. In Castlepollard, 316 were on the live register which included 39 under 25 while 142 were 25 and over. 155 of those who signed on in Castlepollard were male while 161 were female.
The number of people on the live register in Westmeath increased by 0.5% from 3,937 in June. 3,905 people signed on in May while 3,932 signed on in April with 4,048 in March. Nationally, 171,900 people signed on in the month of July which was 0.1% less than June.
