Seamus O’Brien was born in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow and moved to Mullingar in the mid-1970s.
He has spent his entire life as an educationalist, while remaining a family man as well as becoming a well-known historian and author.
Many of our readers may very well have been taught by Seamus during his two decades as a teacher in St Mary’s CBS in Mullingar.
He is passionate about place and has a very strong sense of identity with both his native county, Carlow, and his adopted county, Westmeath.
