With Daffodil Day taking place this Friday, businesses, schools and shops in Mullingar and Westmeath are preparing for one of the busiest charity days of the calendar year.
At Áras an Mhuilinn on Mount Street, Mullingar, Noeleen McKnight is preparing for her own coffee morning for Daffodil Day, having lost her own mother, Ann McKnight, to cancer earlier this year.
“My mother passed away six weeks ago from lung cancer so having a coffee morning to raise funds for such a worthy cause as cancer couldn’t be missed,” says Noeleen, who spoke of the rapid way in which lung cancer took hold of her mother’s life.
