Addams Family plan Easter break in Mullingar

Mullingar Charity Variety Group is thrilled to bring The Addams Family to the audiences of Mullingar in a full musical production centred on the well-loved cartoon family!

The prodution guarantees a night of horror kitsch, tongue-in-cheek depravity, musical numbers and one-liners to make a corpse spin in its grave! It promises to be a spectacle to behold in true MCVG fashion and will enrapture even the most discerning theatre-goer with its surprisingly robust and heartfelt (albeit unique!) illustration of how “normal” is simply a perspective. All this, neatly wrapped in a visual extravaganza, peppered with jazz-hands and high-kicks will make it a show with something for everyone!
Gomez Addams, at the helm of the family, will be played by AIMS award winning comedian, Alan Conroy while Morticia, slinking salaciously by his side, will be brought to life by another jewel in the MCVG crown, AIMS award winning comedienne, Elaine Purdue. Each won their All-Ireland Best Comedian/Comedienne award for their interpretation of a mischievous meddling cat (in two different MCVG productions), so you can imagine the feline ferocity of the pairing!
Other long-term members of the group taking to the stage in this production will include Joanne MacDonagh as the tormented and love-struck Wednesday Addams, Richie Geoghegan as the strangely endearing Uncle Fester, Veronica MacDonagh as the weird and wonderful Grandma Addams, Eleanor MacDonagh and Martin Mills as the unwitting Beinekes and Addams ancestors, Tracy Meade, Claire Caulfield, Kim Darby and Carl Magee.
New members treading the boards will include Finn Sheahan as Pugsley Addams, Liam Gilleran as Lurch, Kyle Smyth as Lucas Beineke and Addams ancestors, Olive MacDonagh, Sarah Kelly, Margaret Whyte, Joan Leonard, Sarah-Jane Mangan, Brendan (Tosh) Kiernan and Chris Corroon: so with 11 old and 10 new, it’s a great mix of seasoned experience and fresh enthusiasm!
Founding member Ray McDonnell says he is honoured to be captaining the ship again and is excited to see fellow founding member, Paul Curley, make his musical theatre directorial debut with MCVG. Paul has excelled onstage in many a role and has considerable experience directing plays. Paul is, in turn, delighted to be supported by talented sister duo, Petrina Mills (also a founding member) and Johanna Daly, in their respective roles as musical director and choreographer, while all are truly grateful to the many industrious members of the steering group and stage crew who are busy bees in the background getting the show on the road, volunteering their evenings and weekends along with the cast and production team to bring this project to fruition.
