The Downs GAA Club enjoyed a wonderful night of celebration last Saturday in The Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar when their victorious senior men’s football team received their 2022 county championship winners’ medals. Bloomfield House Hotel were superb hosts, with no stone left unturned with particular thanks to Joanne and Sharon, who managed the night so professionally as well as the preparations earlier in the week.
Proceedings kicked off with a drinks reception, followed by a fabulous meal. In attendance were Westmeath County Chairman Frank Mescall and Secretary Brendan Shaw. We thank them both for their attendance and we thank Frank for presenting the medals, and for his kind words of recognition to the team, who not only won the county championship but were Leinster club finalists also. Presentations were also made to Brian and Mary Murtagh in recognition of Brian’s outstanding contribution not only to The Downs GAA but to Westmeath GAA too.
