The Castletown-Geoghegan Community said this week that it is “shocked and outraged” to recently learn there are plans for 244 persons seeking international protection to be located at Middleton Park in the village.
This information has been communicated to the Castletown-Geoghegan Community Group by Minister Peter Burke’s office on Friday, 10 February.
The communication received from the minister’s office read: “I have put the concerns of local residents to the Department of Children who have advised that negotiations are ongoing with the owners of Middleton Park, Castletown-Geoghegan and that there is the potential to accommodate up to 244 International Protection Applicants there.”
