A goal-fest, including 2-3 from Sarah Dillon, from a determined Westmeath saw them earn their first victory in Division 2 of the Lidl National League at the expense of a rather hapless Laois side in Lakepoint Park, Mullingar, last Sunday afternoon.
The home side started this game off the back of a late defeat in Fethard last week to Tipperary, while Laois were easy winners against a Monaghan side in transition.
While Laois manager Donie Brennan may have achieved success with the defensive tactics last week, it could not have gone more wrong this week as the Westmeath team appeared to have the freedom of St Loman’s pitch on multiple occasions.
