Six people have died on Westmeath roads so far this year which is up from three in 2022, and the Transportation and Planning Committee of Westmeath County Council have agreed a new county-wide approach to traffic calming as a result.
According to Damien Grennan, Senior Engineer at the Council, it will ensure a “co-ordinated and consistent approach” across smaller towns and villages.
