The town of Mullingar gained massive exposure over last weekend following tremendous sporting successes by both boxing star Davey Oliver Joyce and Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary, whose horse Tiger Roll won the Randox Health Aintree Grand National for the second successive year.
In a remarkable quadruple success, Westmeath senior footballers claimed the National Football League Division 3 title at Croke Park on Saturday when they defeated Laois, 1-13 to 0-13, while Mullingar’s Simon Carr and Ammaar Elamin won tennis titles in Tunisia and Qatar.
