Mullingar Hiking Group was founded by Rochfortbridge man Kenneth Delaney during Covid times and has since gone from strength to strength.
What started as a small group of friends who had an interest in the outdoors and hiking around Ireland, has turned into a group of roughly 120 members who climb mountains across Europe, the UK and soon the US.
“We are starting to really scale things up now,” said Kenneth. “And also, we are now catering for everyone. We’re doing major hikes but at a slow pace that suits all levels of fitness.
“For example we climbed the highest mountain in Ulster, Slieve Donard, in January and we had a 73-year-old man with us. It was great to see.”
