In a joint, intelligence-led operation today, 20 November, between officers from Revenue’s Customs Service and An Garda Síochana’s Regional Support Unit, 78,180 cigarettes and approximately 15.5kgs tobacco with a retail value of €39,090 and €7,076 respectively were seized in Mullingar. A vehicle was also seized.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illicit cigarettes in the shadow economy.
