Calls for bus shelter at Belvedere House

By Diarmuid Sherry.  Westmeath County Council agreed to issue a letter to the National Transport Authority to consider the placing of bus shelters at Belvedere House. It comes after a motion was passed at the Mullingar Kinnegad District meeting on Monday, 12 February, where it was also revealed that a number of councillors did not know that a bus service to Belvedere House from Mullingar even existed. The motion was brought by Fine Gael Councillor Emily Wallace, who said: “I actually did not realise that it comes everyday to Belvedere from Mullingar three times a day, seven times a week and by placing a bus shelter at Belvedere, I feel that will advertise the fact that you can get here by public transport.”

A bus shelter would be an encouragement for local commuters to use the public bus service said Cllr Wallace.
