Congratulations to Caroline Carton from St Oliver Plunkett’s Camogie Club and a member of the Westmeath Camogie Executive, who received a Volunteer of the Year award at the Camogie Association Awards, which were held last Saturday evening.
Due to government restrictions regarding Covid-19, the awards were held virtually for the first time ever and were shown live on the Camogie Association’s Facebook page.
Recipients of the Volunteer of the Year awards from all over Ireland were recognised by their counties for their dedication and commitment to Camogie throughout 2020, in what was one of the most difficult years in recent memory.
MC for the evening was RTE’s Eileen Dunne, who spoke very highly of Westmeath’s winner Caroline Carton. Eileen said, “Caroline has held many roles in camogie, including club executive and is current chairperson of St Oliver Plunkett’s Camogie Club. Caroline is also a coach, administrator, First Aid Officer and currently the club’s Covid Officer. Caroline is a member of the Westmeath Camogie Executive as well as a delegate to Leinster Council”.
The event was streamed on the Camogie Association Facebook and YouTube Channels and if you missed any of the action you can watch it back by logging onto the relevant Facebook page.
Congratulations to Caroline on receiving her award.
