Westmeath got off to the worst possible start on Sunday last when they lost at home to Cavan their opening round game of their Allianz Football League Division 3 campaign.
An extremely disappointing first-half ultimately cost Westmeath dearly. A first half where Westmeath, with the wind behind them, were far too pedestrian and ponderous in their build up, ended up with the paltry total of three points after 35 minutes.
Westmeath fans in TEG Cusack Park, were frustrated last Sunday as there were far too many misplaced passes and unforced errors allowing Cavan to go in leading by 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time.
