Stories about people doing good is how Mullingar woman and internationally award-winning interior architect Aoife Rhattigan of Restless.Design described RTÉ1’s hugely popular home improvement show, DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland.
Aoife is the Series Designer and an integral part of the team on the show that rebuilds people’s lives by renovating their homes, which is back for a second series.
The popular series presented by Baz Ashmawy, this year featured families based in New Ross, Meath, Santry and Waterford city.
“It’s an emotional rollercoaster and a lot to take on,” Aoife admitted when we caught up with her this week.
“Initially when we meet the family and heard their stories, I try to put myself in their shoes which is emotional. I really try to figure out how we can give them the best possible home that will truly suit all their needs.”
