Local teen to get first haircut for hair loss charity

When did you last have a haircut? Two months ago? Two years ago? How about TWELVE years ago!?
Such is the case for thirteen-year-old Kian Donlon from Mullingar who is preparing to have his first full haircut in a number of weeks, all in aid of hair loss charity, Rapunzel, and the children’s call service, Childline.
For young Kian, a sixth class pupil at St. Kenny’s NS, Ballinea, the prospect of having his 12-inch long hair cut is proving exciting, with just two weeks to go until he gets his new hairstyle on 10 December at Salon Twenty One, Mount Street.
“It will be a weird feeling not to have hair covering your neck, but it’s for a good cause, so it’ll be well worth it” enthused Kian, who is due to start secondary school at St. Fininan’s College next year.
The Rapunzel Foundation is a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss through fund raising as well as through hair raising.
Hair is raised through the charity’s Ponytail campaign, where people commit to growing their hair with the view to their hair being sent to help make much needed wigs to improve the lives of those living with the hair loss.
