Comedian and impressionist Conor Moore met Eddie Jordan, the former manager of Bank Of Ireland Mullingar, at the Ryder Cup which took place last week in Rome.
Following a four-year stint in Mullingar in the 1970s, Mr Jordan went on to establish a Formula 1 team called Jordan Grand Prix, named after himself, which competed from 1991-2005.
The former Mullingar bank manager also presented Top Gear from 2016-2018 and was the BBC’s lead F1 analyst from 2009 to 2015.
Conor Moore shared a snap of himself meeting Mr Jordan on social media and described him as an F1 legend as they shared stories from home:
“He tells me he got his into racing through connections in Mullingar. His love for Mullingar Golf Club.
“He talks about his time living in Mullingar like he lived in Las Vegas! Knew every nook and cranny of the place. What a man,” the comedian said.
Conor was at the Ryder Cup in Rome throughout the competition enjoying the golf and recording impressions and skits from the event online.
Team Europe, spearheaded by a strong Irish contingent of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, claimed victory in the Ryder Cup over the USA with a 16.5-11.5 victory on Sunday, 1 October to regain the coveted trophy.
