A Mullingar man, who has been living in Australia for the past number of years has gained national prominence thanks to his victory in a voting website competition.
Gary Brady, who was a prominent soccer player in Mullingar a number of years ago, has shot to fame in Australia across tv and radio stations when he won a laser hair treatment competition.
Brady, who played soccer for Mullingar Athletic, Mullingar Town and Townspark Rangers before emigrating to Australia, told Topic, “I moved to Australia four years ago with my wife and two kids due to the down turn in economy. I had to retrain for work when I came here in the warehouse capacity where I have worked my way up to a supervisor role.”
Brady then explained how he entered the website competition.
“I was watching an AFL game one night on tv when an advert came on looking for ‘Australia’s Biggest Hair Regrowth Sceptic’. To be honest it was just for the laugh that I applied. I then received a call to tell me I had made it to next stage. That stage covered all of Fr Mark English, former curate Mullingar; Fr John Mc Grath and Fr Michael Kilmartin curate Mullingar pictured at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations Fr. John McGrath and Fr. Christy Fox on Friday night last, in St. Brigid’s Church, Boher.
Australia.
A few weeks later I found out I had made it into the top six in Australia and that in order to win I had to get the most votes. I was trailing the other competitors for most of the month and with just two days to go to the finish I was still 25% behind.”
IRISH FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO THE RESCUE
But then Gary turned towards his Irish friends and family members and they came to his rescue.
“I then leaned on the Irish community here in Australia, and through Facebook and my family in Ireland, everyone really pushed it, especially by brother Mark.
So then on Wednesday, 1 July I got a call to say I had actually won the competition by 13%. I couldn’t believe it. I was really surprised. So then on Monday the 13th of July I won $10,000 worth of laser hair treatment,” said Gary.
It hasn’t stopped there however and now a number of television stations and radio stations in Australia have shown an interest in following Gary’s progress as he uses the treatment.
Before trying the hair regrowth product Gary was so sceptical he said, “I’ve tried lots of products and had no results, plus if these things actually work why am I and others going bald?”
But as Gary won the competition he now has the chance to overcome his scepticism with a 12-week IHLS Hair Transformation Package worth $10,000.
The package includes 12 weeks of hair treatments, which will help Gary to regrow his own hair thicker, longer and stronger than ever before.
Gary is now undertaking the programme in the comfort of the Innovative Hair Loss Solutions studio in Subiaco. He filled out some initial paperwork, had a consultation with the in-house doctor, followed by an initial consultation and scalp analysis with National General Manager and founder of the Crown Laser System, Debra Best.
Photos were then taken (both digital and micro) of Gary’s scalp his progress can be followed. This was followed by the first laser treatment of the programme.
The media and the public have become very interested to see just how well the treatment works so they are doing weekly reports and updates on how the treatment works. So now Gary, overnight, has suddenly gained major prominence in Australia.
Many people in Mullingar will remember Gary as having a tight haircut over here so they will be keenly interested to see just how much hair Gary can grow over the coming months.
