Mullingar student Rachel Julianna Holmes became the second Trinity College Dublin scholar in her family on Monday, 22 April.“It’s great news for us. Really happy. The fact we have two daughters that ended up with a scholarship is quite unusual. We’re proud parents,” Rachel’s father Pat told Topic. Rachel is in her second year at Trinity where she is studying Drama and Theatre Studies. She received the scholarship after sitting specialist exams in her area of study. Recipients must average a first across four exams to earn the scholarship and the Mullingar Student was one of two granted a scholarship in Drama and Theatre this year.
The former St Finian’s College student couldn’t contain her excitement when her name was announced at the ceremony.
