‘Alleged unauthorised development’ at Coole Court under investigation

An enforcement notice was issued to the developer of Coole Court on Monday, 29 April over construction works underway at the site alleged to be used for the accommodation of asylum seekers. “Westmeath County Council are currently investigating alleged unauthorised development at Coole, Co. Westmeath. Please be advised that Planning Department do not comment on any enforcement matters associated with live cases,” Westmeath County Council told Topic last Friday, 3 May.

Coole Court developer Peter O’Connor has four weeks to reply to the notice from the date it was issued. Deputy Robert Troy sent a text to Coole residents informing them of the situation: “I have had further engagement with both the community engagement section in the department and with Minister O’Gorman directly who have assured me that there is no commitment implied or otherwise to extend the capacity at Coole.”
