Mullingar is “heading into stupid territory” regarding car parking spaces according to Westmeath County Councillors. Cllr Andrew Duncan introduced a motion to the Mullingar Kinnegad District meeting on Monday, 8 April to retain a minimum of 95% existing car parking spaces in Mullingar town. Within the debate, Fine Gael’s Cllr Emily Wallace stated that the car parking issue in Mullingar made her blood boil.
Cllr Duncan said: “I feel that there is an attempt to reduce car parking spaces year on year. Every type of works we seem to do, we try to remove car parking spaces. This town has to preserve the existing car parking spaces.
