Decision to embrace Tailteann Cup paying dividends

Not alone are the Westmeath senior footballers embracing the Tailteann Cup, they are one step away from bringing it home with them.

“It is a brilliant competition,” said Ronan O’Toole as he left the dressing rooms in Croke Park having overcome Offaly by nine points in last Sunday’s semi-final.

“Last year we lost to Kildare in the Leinster semi-final and we were knocked out and that was that.

This year we have had four more extra games. All we want to do is be playing football in the summer, and now we are in the final we will be playing before the All Ireland semi final in Croke Park, on a big match day, what more could you want.
