Eason say they are relocating to new premises

Mullingar people who have been used to purchasing books, magazines and other stationery items at Eason’s in Pearse Street, for more than four years, were dismayed last Thursday, 31 March, to find the big shopping outlet suddenly closed, and Topic learned that the store locks were changed overnight by representatives for the landlords.

Some hours later, notices were placed on the two windows and closed shutters of the Eason’s premises stating: “Dear valued customer, unfortunately, despite our best efforts at extending the length of our lease, this store was forced to close on 30 March. We are looking for an alternative premises and hope to be back open again soon. All returns, gift cards and deposits will be fully honoured, but if you have any queries on this franchise store, please call either Claire on 087-3655836 or Mary on 086-0793389. We sincerely wish to thank you for your loyal support, custom and friendship over the past 4 years and 9 months.”
It was signed “Management and Staff, Eason Mullingar” and when Topic contacted Eason this week, to get an update, we were told that they had been closed down by the landlords, Dunnes Stores, but there are no other problems, and they are currently seeking new premises.
