This March, Little Brother Productions present their re-imagined production of the Willy Russell classic, Educating Rita. The production will run in the Mullingar Arts Centre from 10 to 12 March.
Rita, a wise-cracking, no-nonsense hairdresser, played by Maedhbh Hughes, is tired of her job, her prospects, her husband, her life. She enrolls in an Open University course in English Literature where she meets her tutor, Frank, played by Chris Corroon, a lecturer who teaches at Open University, and begins her journey of self-discovery.
Frank has his problems too. Divorced, alcoholic, and sick to the back teeth of academic life, Frank finds Rita’s enthusiasm for learning and down-to-earth attitude refreshing. Frank and Rita make an unlikely pair, but could they really show each other a way to a better future?
This is intimate play of big ideas and with a joyful heart that showcases the excellent talent we’ve come to expect from Little Brother.
Educating Rita runs in the Mullingar Arts Centre from 10 to 12 March. Tickets are €15/€12 and are available now from the Mullingar Arts Centre by calling 044-934-7777 or www.mullingarartscentre.ie
