End of an era as Flynn’s Photo Service closes after 41 years

In the world of smart phones and social networking, where stunning photos can be sent around the world in seconds, it’s difficult to comprehend a time when capturing beautiful photos was a science in itself.

At Flynn’s Photo Service in Mullingar, it’s this science which has been the lifeblood of photographer, Helena Flynn, who on 27 February, will close the door on her studio for the last time, brining to an end the story of one of the midland’s most successful photography ventures.
Established by Cavan-native, Brendan Flynn, Flynn’s have captured life in the midlands for decades. It was while working as a freelance photographer with the Farmers Journal that Brendan spotted a gap in the market for a photography business in the midlands and after opening their first studio in Kells, Co. Meath, Brendan chose the nearby town of Mullingar to expand the family business.
