It’s hard to believe that in 2023, there are families – many of them with two or more jobs – going to bed hungry every night, worrying how they are going to make ends meet for food, heat, clothes, bills and the like.
The lack of proper food is just one part of the hardships families face, and that, according to Tullamore man and Offaly County Councillor Ken Smollen, from Ken Smollen Food Appeal, is what he will continuously try to highlight and make those in government aware of, in the hope that local representatives will pluck up the courage to ask why this is happening in this day and age, and in the hope that they might give some focus to the problem and try to better the lives of these same people in need.
