Host of International DJs set for Life 2016

One of Ireland’s longest-running Electronic Dance Music/Techno festival is set to return to Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, from 27 to 29 May this summer. The festival has its roots deep in electronic music and this year is no different with a who’s-who of dance music attending the eleventh year of Life including Paul Kalkbrenner, 2ManyDJs, Jamie Jones, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Ben Kloc and Mano le Tough.

With seven studio albums and more than 2.3 millon Facebook fans, Berlin’s Paul Kalkbrenner is without doubt one of techno’s biggest superstars and his presence at Life will be welcomed by his legion of fans in Ireland.
After establishing himself as a top recording artist and live performer Kalkbrenner expanded into the world of filmmaking, working with director Hannes Stohr on the film ‘Berlin Calling’, in which Kalkbrenner played the leading role, composed the score, and helped Stohr craft the story. Both his performance in the film and his 2008 soundtrack were well-received; the album went platinum and yielded the hit single ‘Sky and Sand’, which spent a record 121 weeks on the German singles chart. His next two LPs, Icke Wieder (2011) and Guten Tag (2012), both charted in the Top Five in Germany and Switzerland. In 2015, after 15 years releasing music on independent labels, Kalkbrenner made the move to a major, signing a long-term deal with Sony Music International/Columbia His seventh LP, and first for Columbia, simply titled 7, was released in August 2015.
As well as the music, there are arts installations, a tepee and yurt village where arts and crafts workshops are held, and a Body & Mind corner offering a range of massages and other therapies. A street performance ring has jugglers, magicians, sword swallowers and clowns.
Food is available on site in the food village with Organic food, noodles, crepes, falafel, fruits, meats and smoothies all on offer, while those who live to shop can do so ethically in the shopping village where both local crafts and world crafts will be on sale. Tickets for Life Festival 2016 are on sale at Ticketmaster.
