With just seven weeks to go until Christmas, a group of local craftspeople are busy preparing for the year’s busiest shopping period in their new dedicated retail unit, ideally positioned in Mullingar’s town centre.
Trading for the past number of years, Made in Westmeath are a group of nine makers and designers who showcase the best in hand-crafted products to the public. With everything from hand-crafted pens to hand- made jewellery, the group has become something of a success story, acting as a platform for local enterprise.
With Christmas approaching, the group are gearing up for what they hope will be a busy shopping period, with their temporary retail unit on Pearse Steeet now fully stocked and ready to welcome customers.
“We speak with customers over the phone, but having a retail unit gives customers a chance to come in, have a browse and a chat,” says Wendy Clinton, who stocks a wide-range of handcrafted natural wooden gifts.
Made in Westmeath’s pop-up will be positioned on Pearse Street (next to Heatons) from Monday to Saturday until Christmas, opening Sundays in the last number of weeks before Christmas.
