Mullingar Social Club hold Tea Day for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland

It’s always special when the Mullingar Social Club meet in the Mullingar Bridge Club, but last Friday was particularly so as they hosted their Tea Day and celebrated the 30th anniversary of the national fundraiser. With entertainment, dancers, singers, cake and any amount of tea and coffee, club co-ordinator Eileen Kenny was thrilled with the reaction to the event.

“It’s been absolutely wonderful here this morning,” she told Topic. “There’s been a huge turnout and everyone is having a great time. Thanks to John Smith who organised the entertainment and to everyone who gave up their time voluntarily. The conversation is flowing and people are mingling, meeting new people and making friends. To know they’re not alone, that there are lots of people the same as themselves, that’s so important.”
