Westmeath got the better of Longford in a competitive encounter at a chilly and sometimes windswept Ballymahon last Sunday. After breaking their wretched 15-match losing streak in midweek against DCU, Tom Cribbin’s charges were again asked to dig deep against their neighbours and fierce rivals, who are also on an uncomfortable losing streak since their famous All-Ireland Qualifier victory in Derry last June.
