Billy Mac’s tenth anniversary concert a success

It was ten years not out for one of the biggest nights on the entertainment scene in Westmeath last week, as the annual Billy Mac Concert for the Carers’ Association celebrated a decade of fundraising.
The concert was yet another sell-out, but due to fire safety restrictions the numbers were down on previous years. However, Billy kept the flame burning with one of his most impressive line-ups to date, and every ticket for the concert sold out in advance.
For just €15, the audience was treated to a huge variety of acts, all performing three to four numbers. Big names mixed with local up-and-coming talent, with acts including Robert Mizzell, Ray Lynam, Simon Casey, T.R. Dallas, The Carley Sisters, Ben Dolan, Matt Leavy, Camillus Egerton, Chris Loughrey, Mick Foster, Noel Battle, Trevor ‘Friends in Low Places’ Smith, Billy Mac and many more taking to the stage. The backing band for the night was marshalled by Barry Coffey and featured members of the Tennessee Breakdown Band who traditionally backed the acts over the past decade.
The night was good natured and enjoyable, and so good were the performances punters found it hard to single out a particular act as being the highlight.
All proceeds raised by the night went to the Longford-Westmeath Carers’ Association.
