‘Celebrating Mullingar’s Musical Legacy’ is the theme of the 2024 Mullingar St Patrick’s Day Festival. To celebrate Mullingar’s music and musicians on this special feast day, the Mullingar St Patrick’s Day Committee have announced that the Chairperson of Fleadh 2022 and 2023, Joe Connaire, will be the Grand Marshall for this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Speaking about his nomination as Grand Marshall, Joe said: “It was great to see the parade last year in Mullingar and it was fantastic to see how successful it was. This may have come on the back of the Fleadh, which inspired people to come out and celebrate. I compliment and thank the St Patrick’s Day committee on the work they done last year and for sticking with it this year. It’s an honour for me to be asked to be the Grand Marshall of this year’s parade. Together we’ll continue to keep Mullingar on the map, to build on these great events and continue to bring good things to the town and to the county of Westmeath”.
