Local photographer has work featured on national stamp

The work of one local photographer has begun appearing through the letterboxes of homes and businesses throughout Ireland in the form of newly-launched stamps by An Post.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, but now rooted in Mullingar, Amy French of Rubistyle Photography is thrilled with the results of her photography, which was picked up by An Post for a new stamp collection which was launched at An Post head offices at the GPO on O’Connell Street last Thursday, 4 September.
A wedding and feline photography specialist, Amy’s path to having her work commissioned for the new stamps goes back over a year to May 2013 when she received notice that there was interest expressed in her collection of work. “I had submitted my portfolio and was actually in Australia when I got word that I was wanted to shoot a series of images for the new stamps.”
On her return to Ireland, Amy commenced working on the images for the new postal stamps, of which there are four in total. Included in these were Amy’s own Burmese cat, Púca along with Fred, a Maine Coon owned by Emeline Callan, also from Mullingar.
“I was delighted to be asked to photograph these cats who were all very different, with distinct personalities. It was great to have Westmeath well represented in the stamps as well.”
The stamps, a special First Day Cover envelope and Booklet of stamps may be viewed and purchased at www.irishstamps.ie at the GPO Dublin and selected post offices.
