In April work started on a new annual international festival that will take place in Mullingar for the first time in July 2015. This Friday, 21 November all, will be revealed to Mullingar!
“My daughter, Melanie, was taking part in the Westmeath Rose as part of the Rose of Tralee competition,” explains Maria Bourke. “I was sitting at the end of Mount Street reflecting on the benefits to Tralee of their annual international festival – guaranteed tourists each August, ongoing national and international publicity throughout the year, not to mention the boost to all businesses in their town during the festival and the hope this kindles continuously in their community. I simply asked the question ,“What could we do for Mullingar?” and the answer ‘downloaded’ in my mind like a new computer program!”
